In 1994 when I began this project there was so much prejudice and misinformation surrounding HIV/AIDS that it was hard to suggest to anyone that they should particpate in my project and give a face to the pandemic in Peru. Luckily several brave people agreed to work with me. Most of these people have since died from AIDS related illnesses and I dedicate this work to them.
